Buyer Representation Disclosure

Purpose of Buyer Representation

Written Buyer Brokerage Agreement

Illinois law generally requires a written buyer brokerage agreement before certain brokerage services, including touring homes with a broker or representing a buyer in a purchase transaction. The agreement explains the services to be provided, the term of representation, compensation, and the rights and responsibilities of both parties.

Broker Compensation

Broker compensation is not set by law and is fully negotiable. Compensation may be paid by the seller, the listing brokerage, the buyer, or another source as provided in the written agreement and permitted by law. Consumers are encouraged to ask questions about compensation before signing any agreement.
